Jim Ferrell, managing partner and author at the Arbinger Institute, will speak this month at the Surface Forces Summit in San Diego, CA, about applying an outward mindset within the U.S. Navy’s new surface warfare strategy.
Implementing the strategy will require a change in mindset.
The strategy was outlined in a December 2016 document, “Surface Force Strategy,” by Vice Admiral Thomas Rowden USN, Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific.
To successfully execute the strategy, naval units spread across vast areas of the ocean will need to achieve new levels of communication, collaboration, and coordination. Such closely networked collaboration, in turn, will require a fundamental change in current tools, tactics, training.
In his keynote address, Jim will talk about the mindset that is necessary for this dynamic new strategy to succeed: an outward mindset. He will outline ways that people can realize their impact on results, connect with their colleagues, and leverage all available assets to collaborate effectively. A fundamental element of this mindset is honest self-assessment. He will answer questions such as:
- How can we best assess our own abilities?
- How can we identify areas for improvement and correct course?
- How can we establish functional feedback mechanisms?
During the keynote, each participant will receive a small booklet that will help them apply the concepts that Jim introduces to their own work.
This 90-minute event is open to the public, but with limited seating. If you would like to attend, please RSVP with your full name to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than August 4, 2017. (The event is taking place on a military base; full name is required so that we can add you to the access list.)
